Info

Lake Ampola, one of the few lakes still in their natural conditions, is a nature reserve.

Reeds, water lilies, tadpoles and frogs. The flora and fauna are the protagonists of the landscape and of the visitor centre which tells its story. The Italian translation of Tom Robbin’s book (‘Half-Asleep in Frog Pajamas’) gives the visitor centre its name. The Italian title is ‘Beati come rane su una foglia di ninfea’ (i.e. Happy like frogs on the leaf of a water lily). Inside the centre the world of the lake is seen through the eyes of its inhabitants.

The footbridge runs along the lake from the car park to the visitor centre. The wooden pier is the best viewpoint from which to admire the pond and its surroundings.

Admission to the visitor centre is free.
