The Val di Ledro is a veritable paradise for MTB enthusiasts with over 200 km of marked itineraries along forest tracks, trails and old mule roads suitable from everyone from the beginner through to those looking for that ultimate adrenaline burst. Best known itineraries are the climb to Monte Tremalzo and the one to Bocca di Trat - Rifugio Pernici, also main tour of the Mountain & Garda Bike.
Along the valley there is a cycle path from Lake Ledro to Lake Ampola and several side road, where you can easily bike, such as the road that leads to Val Concei and Rifugio Al Faggio.
The climb to Monte Tremalzo is a must for any cycling enthusiast. The climb can be made along a completely surfaced local road, which starts out from Lago d'Ampola and leads to the mountain pass. Otherwise there are a number of trails to choose from, surfaced part in concrete, part paved in stone, which lead from the valley to the military road which was built by Italian troops during the First World War and which runs along the whole southern side of the Valle di Ledro. Other options are the climbs from Prè-Leano to the Passo Guil, and from Molina towards the Passo Nota. These routes can be cycled in either direction. The route descending from Caset along a relatively narrow forest trail is recommended for downhill cycling only.
The trail leading to Passo Trat-Rifugio Nino Pernici stands out among the various routes on the northern side of the valley. The climb leads from Lenzumo up a steep mountain road. After refreshments at the mountain refuge, the descent leads down the Valle di Ledro along two good mountain tracks. An alternative route leads towards Riva del Garda.
Moreover there is a cycle path leading from Lago di Garda up to the Val d'Ampola. From Riva del Garda you take the Ponale trail (this is a must-see, with many unique views for cyclists and hikers alike, so watch where you're going!) up to the mouth of the tunnel.
In order to avoid cycling on the main road, we recommend crossing the bridge to Pregasina and turning right immediately onto a paved and almost level trail which leads to the village of Prè. The route leads into the village and straight on past the church. From this point on the road is almost all surfaced, and although it is quite steep in places it provides an alternative route to Molina, avoiding the busy traffic of the main road. Once we have reached the sports field just below Molina di Ledro, we continue along the Ponale river. From Molina we choose to take the main road or the route along southern shore of the lake as far as Pieve di Ledro. From Pieve we continue to the left hand of the main road until after Bezzecca, and then on stretches of cycle- and footpaths and open roads to Tiarno di Sopra.
