Biacesa is the village of nativity scenes. Under each vault, in each alley und behind every window, there are various nativity scenes, some of them very original. In Molina there’s a big nativity scene by the staircase leading up to the church, while in Mezzolago, the nativity scene is at the public wash fountain, which is still in function. Pieve is home to fairies.

Besides organising the Christmas Village of the Giant, Bezzecca is also decorated with nativity scenes and ornaments, which change every year. In each village of Val Concei there are decorations as well as a big Christmas tree and crib in Enguiso. In Tiarno di Sotto, the white decorated tree stands out in front of the second tallest church tower in Trentino. In Tiarno di Sopra lights and decorations await the visitor.

Winter walks

  trat

Tremalzo:
Snowshoes walks on the white snow which covers this part of the valley so thickly. Tremalzo was once a little ski resort (1600 m). The Marogna area is not far from Albergo Garda and can be reached following the old military road built by Italian soldiers during the First World War. Be careful, as the walk can be dangerous if snow isn’t properly settled or if there is too much. Passo Dil, commonly called La Viola after the lady who used to run Rifugio Bezzecca, can also be reached form Albergo Garda walking towards Cima Avez, which offers beautiful views over the southern Adamello and the mountains surrounding Lake Idro.

Val Concei:
Starting from Lenzumo, 8 km  walk along the valley floor naturalistic path towards Al Faggio, among centuries old beech trees, firs and picturesque huts.

Gorg d’Abiss:
During particularly cold winters the waterfall freezes and offers an incomparable sight to those who venture along the short path from the Bugatini mill to this ravine along the Massangla stream.

Winter flavours

During the winter let yourself be tempted by the delicious dishes of Valle di Ledro cuisine. Polenta di patate ( i.e. potato polenta) warms up the spirit after a winter day, especially if it’s accompanied by venison or stew. Gnocchi boemi (i.e. Bohemian dumplings) are a legacy of the Great War, when the people of Ledro were evacuated to Bohemia.
