Het LedromeerHet Ledromeer
Het Ledromeer is een van de mooiste en schoonste meren van Trentino: het ligt op een hoogte van 650 meter boven de zeespiegel en het heldere turkooisblauwe water wordt omringd door een groene rand van weides en bossen. Het gebied heeft een rijke historie met sporen uit het verleden die teruggaan tot in de bronstijd.

Het meer is onstaan door een morene in de laatste ijstijd maar sinds 1929 wordt het waterniveau geregeld door een elektriciteitscentrale in Riva del Garda, die het meer gebruikt om energie op te wekken. De bronnen van het meer liggen meestal onder water, maar er zijn ook enkele waterwegen die uitmonden in het meer zoals de beken Massangla, Assat van Pur, Assat van Pieve, hoewel deze het grootste deel van het jaar droog staan.
Naast het natuurschoon is het Ledromeer vooral beroemd geworden vanwege de vondst van een archeologisch gebied uit de bronstijd aan de oostzijde van het meer. Het gebied met paalwoningen werd ontdekt toen het waterniveau van het meer werd verlaagd voor de bouw van de elektriciteitscentrale in Riva del Garda. De archelogische vondst is één van de belangrijkste en best bewaarde in Europa.
Langs de oevers van het meer zijn vier stranden aangelegd. Deze stranden liggen in Molina di Ledro (Besta), in Mezzolago, in Pieve di Ledro en in Pur. In de buurt van de stranden kunnen trapboten, roeiboten, zeilboten, surfplanken en kano's worden gehuurd om maximaal te genieten van het water.
NEWS 2011 - BEACH FOR THE DOGS - LEDRO IS ANIMAL FRIENDLY:
Since this summer, part of the beach in Pur, in the southern part of the lake, is open for dogs, who can enjoy the sun and the lake together with its friends.
Moreover, along the walk around Lake Ledro, there are dispenser with bags to collect dog's dejections.
In Pieve di Ledro is eveneens de Zeilclub Ledromeer gevestigd die grote internationale zeilregatta’s organiseert, zoals de Women Match Race J22 en de Europese kampioenschappen Team Racing Ioda in de Optimist-klasse. Daarnaast worden er tijdens de zomer zeillessen georganiseerd voor kinderen.
Ook voor de vissers is het Ledromeer ideaal omdat er vele soorten vis in het meer te vinden zijn, waaronder forel, baars, karpers, zeelt, snoek en paling. Als u wilt vissen in het meer, heeft u een vergunning nodig die u kunt verkrijgen bij het toerismebureau.
