Sailing Association Lago di Ledro

The association was founded in 1960 by a group of local people and guests of the Ledro Valley very keen on sailing. In 1984 it obtained the affiliation to the FIV (the Italian Sailing Association) and now the members are about 150.
During the years, thanks to the enthusiasm of its members both the agonistic and didactic activities continuosly increased. The promotional activities of the association concentrate especially in the categories "Under 14": the sailing school, recognized by the FIV, organizes each summer courses for derive and optimist for children and teenagers younger than 15 years old. Besides, there are courses for adults both individual and for groups and for cruisers J24.

The sailing history of the lake began in 1927, when it has been organized the first sailing regatta.
Since its foundation, the Sailing Association has been carrying on its agonistic activity and even hosted the World Match Race 2000.
Since 3 years it has been organizing the European Optimist Finals and the Trentino Match Race, a lap of the World Match Race.
In 2004, it organized and hosted the Italian Snipe Championship Master and Female and the European Championship 420 Team Racing.

Thanks to its orography, the Lake Ledro is considered the ideal place for team and round robin match race regattas. The wind that blows from the East and starts at about 10,30 a.m. till 4,30 p.m., makes the waters of Ledro a privileged lake for regattas.

The 27th of June 2004, the new sailing centre has been opened in Pieve di Ledro. It is equipped with new wharf for anchorage, slipway, davit and all the facilities necessary for sailing.

SAILING LESSONS AT LAKE LEDRO

During the summer the sailing association Lago di Ledro organizes Optimist courses for children (8 to 15 years old, who can swim) from Monday to Friday. Lessons are both theoretical and practical and optimist boats will be used. For adults the program is not fixed yet.
