Prè

Small hamlet of Molina, situated in a fertile valley at the foot of the mountain Carone. Each year at the beginning of February, this small village celebrates the Sun Festival. After three months of absence the sun reappear on the village. In Prè is also possible to visit the smithy, where the last "chiodaioli" show you how they used to forge the hobnails, an important activity for the economy of the Valley till the end of WWII. 

The name "Prè" comes from "prato" that means meadow. It is the second village you meet if you come from Riva del Garda, the main road do not pass across the village beacause the inhabitants were unwilling to accept the construction of it in the middle of the village.
From the 11th of November, St. Martin's day, to the 5th of February, St. Agata, the village is deprived of the sunlightbecause it is situated behind the mountains, along the river Ponale.
In the centre stands the church of St. Giacomo Maggiore, whose origins date back to the 1537. Remarkable are the three portals in white and red stone, and the frescoes of the eighteenth century which decorate the walls.
Few metres from the church there is an ancient smithy, renovated for conservative and didactic purpose. Provided with a fire and all the tools and utensils of this ancient work, the smithy show you how hobnails were made. The hobnails were important to protect the shoes soles and the demand was so sizeable that some workers were exempt from going to the front.
