Naturaid Trentino wants to bring the "Naturaid philosophy" of its founder Maurizio Doro (www.mauriziodoro.it) to his home, in Trentino. This philosophy lives and respects the nature that surrounds us and our body, always trying to increase the harmony between the two elements. This is the essential condition to let come out the best from ourselves, starting an extreme mountain bike competition in a unique one stage race, without any outside help.

The ambitious project wants to promote Trentino with an international event, which is new in Europe. The philosophy of this kind of competition is that the athletes follow the "road book" for any information concerning the route; there are hardly any signs and there is little staff needed. The route is pre-planned to give the maximum safety to the participants and the road users. Where it is possible, the main roads are avoided, so the contestants will bike along cycle paths, secondary and forestry road and paths.
The staff of the Naturaid is present in each part of the route with a special team to guarantee a steady progress of the competition. The competition lasts maximum 60 hours (from Friday, 25th of June at 5 a.m. till Sunday, 27th of June at 5 p.m.), but having a length of about 400 Km, the athletes will cross the different areas at different moments, depending on their training, stamina and luck during the race.

The concept of unique stage race leaves the athlete free to choose when to bike and when to relax, as long as he or she reaches the finishing line within the cut-off time. Self-supporting means that every athlete brings  the necessary clothes and food to finish the competition. Only water is handed out by the organization at several “Check Points, (CP’s)”. These CP’s are planned at every 30-35 Km; there the participants will find water and a place to rest and to eat and warm themselves.

Up until now there hasn’t been any event like this in Europe!

Special attention is given to the environment: those who will not respect nature will be disqualified. 

During the trip, the athletes experience landscapes, colors, villages, paths, torrents, lakes, forests, meadows, mountains and everything else Trentino has to offer. Biking allows the participants to enjoy everything at their own speed and to take wonderful pictures.   

The event coincides with the full moon, so it is possible to bike at every hour of the day and the night, experiencing unforgettable moments. Naturaid is made for the well trained athletes and for adventure lovers.  

Project’s aims:

The Staff of NATURAID suggests to the athletes who want to participate to this event a new way to “LIVE SPORT”, an two and a half day adventure-trip through striking mountains, valleys, lakes, forests and village of the western part of Trentino: from the southern border with Lombardy to Val di Sole, from Lake Garda to the Dolomites of Brenta.

Beside “just” pedaling, every Naturaider has the opportunity to:
- prepare and test, in the months before the event, his/her bike and the necessary equipment (clothes, light, substitutes, compulsory surviving stuff) so that every obstacle that could occur may become a new opportunity to render this experience more interesting;
- spend the hours before the competition together with the other participants and have a rich breakfast with them;
- choose to ride the trip alone or in couples;
- prepare for his/her own food requirements at least 6000 calories (2000 calories per day for 3 days); although it is not forbidden to  eat something warm where it is possible (some Check Points are at hotels or refuges);
- bike free in nature, at his/her own pace, with all the information of the “Road Book”;
- live his/her own adventure by pedaling also during the night, enlightened by the full moon, maybe even higher than 2000 m among the Brenta Dolomites;  
- get in harmony with the environment around, through sensations and rare emotions; 
- count on the good organization and sanitary aid in case of emergency  during the entire event;
