Pieve

Located on the north-west side of Lake Ledro, Pieve has a range of tourist accomodation and facilities. The name comes from the Latin word "Plebs" that means people and shows the place where the people assembled particularly for religious meetings. Pieve was the centre of the Ledro comunity because in the past the power belonged to the prince-bishops.

The first thing you see from the main road is the Church, referring to the written documents we have, we found out that a collegiate church already existed in 1235, when the care of souls of all the Ledro villages was committed to the dean of Pieve.
Close to the church, the ancient town council which hosts, at the ground floor, the ancient Oratory of San Giuseppe, with its original main door of the seventeenth-century. The Oratory was consacrated in 1633, but the building already existed in 1479.

Nearby we reach the Pharmacy Foletto, the first pharmacy of the all Valley. Eight years ago the family Foletto opened a small Museum dedicated to the Pharmacy Lab started by Angelo Foletto in the nineteenth century. Several tools on display together with the furnishing from the nineteenth century let us imagine the conscientious and meticulous work the family Foletto and its workers had to do.

The village is an excellent starting point for hikes in the mountains and for mountain bike excursions with wonderful view over the Lake.
