We go up through the trenches built on the hill “S. Stefano” and learn about the Garibaldi fight in 1866 and all the events that strongly affected our valley during the First World War. Then we continue towards Val dei Molini and visit the small church of Santa Lucia in Pratis (14th century), which has been completely restored in 1998 and where interesting frescoes have been discovered.

We walk downhill towards East, along the mule track that dates back to the Middle Age and led to the harbor of Ponale on Lake Garda. We can observe a “calchèra” (oven for the lime production) and enjoy the magnificent view over the rocky walls perpendicularly the lake and the road carved in them, built in 1851 according to the project of Giacomo Cis. Following the last part of this historical road, which presents in many points ruins of the fortifications of the First World War, we reach Riva del Garda and go the same way back to the starting point.

Guided visit of the smithy, where some handicraftsmen show us how hobnails were produced during the first decades of the past century. They represented a very important income for the Valle di Ledro. Afterwards walk through the village and visit of the limekiln, the chapel of S. Rocco and the parish church San Giacomo Maggiore, characterized by the side altars painted by Pietro Antonio Bianchi in the 18^th century.

During this round circuit we deal with different historical and naturalistic matters. We go along one of the most important Roman roads that connected the southern Val del Sarca with the Val Giudicarie and walk on the Roman bridge of Croina. Moreover, during the walk we visit the small church of S. Giorgio, the water mill on the torrent Massangla and the hidden gorge “Gorg d'Abiss" with waterfall.

Through the village centre we reach Barcesino and continue on the Way of the Cross, which ends with 74 steps, to the Church of Our Lady of Sorrows, called also “Madonna of the Crutches” because people, who had leg diseases, invoked this Madonna.

We walk up to the forestry road, and on the way back we stop by a field of herbs to discover their secrets.

The walk allows us to discover the woods and trees of Val Concei. From Lenzumo an easy path through the meadows leads us to the wood, where we can observe the different kinds of trees and vegetation and get to know more about the forestry economy of Val di Ledro through the centuries.

The walk leads us through the woods of Val di Pur, where we can observe the different kinds of flowers and plants, that grow in the southern part of the Lake. On the way back we stop to see a farm for raspberries, blackberry and blueberries growing.

Along Lake Ampola, a protected area, we walk to a beehive, where thanks to the beekeepers' association of Valle di Ledro, we discover the beehive world. On the way back, before reaching the meeting point, we visit Lake Ampola.

We reach the alpine pastures of Malga Bezzecca, where Mario waits for us in the dairy to show us, how he makes cheese. After the visit we go back crossing the alpine pastures full of endemic flowers and where cows quietly graze.

MAX 50 PARTICIPANTS

This easy walk is of great interest from both the botanical and the naturalistic point of views. We walk to the pass Casèt (1608 m), where the Natural Science Museum of Trento has turned an old bird catching building into an ornithological station to study the birds' migration. The participants can see how the birds are ringed while the experts answer all the questions.

Exciting botanical hike to Dromaè, a natural botanical garden, where, especially during spring time, different kinds of flowers, such as the wild peony and white narcissus, bloom. In Dromaè it is also possible to walk along the Austrian trenches from the First World War, recently renovated. The weariness for the steep ascent is surely rewarded by the sweet-smelling meadows and by the breath-taking view, one of the best one, over Lake Ledro.

I the wide dell below the Tremalzo Pass, which is surrounded by peculiar lime stone strata, we follow a very beautiful and easy round itinerary. We meet four alpine grazing places that are still in use for cattle and goat herds. Wonderful waterfall, the flora and the geological formations are very interesting.

We get organized to go up by car to the parking below Malga Trat. We start our walk and take the path called “senter de le vache” (cows' path) and go up to Bocca Saval, where we continue, passing along trenches of the First World War, to the top of Cima Parì. The view opens beyond the lake and mountains of Ledro. We stop for lunch and then descend to Bocca Saval and, following a stretch of the “Peace Path”, get to the Rif. Pernici nearby Bocca Trat. From here we reach in a short time our starting point.

We reach Malga Cita, where the ascent starts through the steep Val Scaia. We come to the green meadows of Malga Giù, a very pleasant alpine grazing place, and to Cà de Mez, where we stop for lunch. We continue on a military path toward San Martino, where we enjoy an amazing view over the mountains of Val Concei. We descend through the forest and along the road back to Pur.  

From the village we walk through the Valle Sacche, first along a forestry road, then we take the path through the wood  toward Passo Rango. From here we can enjoy the view over Val Giudicarie, where stands the glacier of Adamello. From Monte Rango we start our descent to the alpine pastures of Malga Stigolo, where we stop for lunch. After the take first an old mule track and the so called “Senter del Troc” back to Tiarno di Sopra.
