"Biotope" of Lake Ampola

The lake Ampola is situated in the south-western part of Trentino in the homonymous valley, which is a continuation of the Ledro one. It is about 62 Km away from Trento and it is reachable either from Riva del Garda or from Storo (Giudicarie Valley), by taking the national road 240 of Ledro Valley.
The mountains that surround Lake Ampola are formed by sediment rocks. The lake is located 725 m above the sea-level, it has an oblong shape following the Ledro axis and it is 400 m long and 150 m wide; the maximal depth is only 3-4 m.
The main affluent is the Ovri torrent, the effluent is the Palvico torrent, which runs into the Chiese River.

Surface: about 24, 40 hectares
Middle altitude: 750 m above the sea-level
